MultiMedia Interiors

Thank you for visiting MultiMedia Interiors to find out more about the installation of your home entertainment systems. Over Ten years of experience have taught us that there are a few things you, as a consumer should question prior to hiring a home entertainment installation company.

What is the methodology for choosing the products that will be installed in the home? MMI uses experience and research to determine what products we will recommend. We read a few trade publications to keep an eye on new innovative technologies. Once a year we visit an expo to talk to the representatives from these companies and get further information on those products. If a product seems to meet a need, we purchase the product and use it in our homes to test it out prior to ever installing them into a customer’s home. What this means to you as a customer is that you get products from MMI that we are familiar with, we know how to use and meets our performance requirements. The second major benefit you get from this process is that we know our customer’s can use our products. An in depth knowledge allows us to train you how to use any one of our products in a very short period of time and be able to answer questions over the phone in the event you do need a little extra help.

How big is the company that is installing the products? MultiMedia Interiors is owned and run by Mike Philpott and Steve Alongi. Mike is the technical guru and Steve runs all aspects of the business. Sean is our new technical assistant who, as a third year electrical engineering student, backs up Mike’s technical database. Mike and Steve start the process with a meeting we have with you at and is followed up by an estimate that you can be sure MMI can install as proposed. Once agreed upon, a combination of Mike, Steve and Sean install you system; no parts of MMI’s estimate are outsourced. Anytime you need something, you talk to Mike or Steve, no call centers, no finger pointing just resolution to your call.

Is the company bidding on the installation a licensed contractor? Hiring a licensed contractor ensures that your contractor has a knowledge of more than just a few products that are in the consumer electronics market. An understanding of building codes and the laws surrounding those codes give you an installation that keeps in tact the integrity of your home. One of the laws required by the state of California is that license contractors must carry liability insurance. During an installation, holes are cut into walls and ceilings that can hide electrical wires, water pipes and other hazards. If one of these hazards is cut into, serious consequences can result. A licensed contractor means you are covered if an accident does occur. If an unlicensed contractor causes a problem, will your homeowners insurance cover you? Electrical work is often needed in order to hang a plasma screen on the wall. Do you really want a person who is not trained to install electrical outlets doing so in your home? Or worse yet, taking short cuts that do not meet code requirements? Another reason you want licensed contractor is that you as a consumer can check to see if any formal complaints have been filed. All of the information you need can be found on www.cslb.ca.gov. Without this resource you have no way to know if the person who is working on your home has been involved with any accidents. You can find information on MMI’s license through the state’s website. MMI also maintains a retail location where you can preview MMI recommended products, a configuration center where systems are built and a van customized to ensure efficient installations.

Thank you for considering MultiMedia Interiors for the installation of your home entertianment systems!
